I love this series! It is just so amazing to see a tv show these days that doesn't feel very similar to one another. The creators have put so much effort in this show and I really appreciate it. The christmas special was my favorite episode, loved to see everyone together for almost the entire episode. There's just one thing I don't like: Capheus being recast in the middle of season 2 for some reason. I don't like it, but I'm sure Lana (the creator) had her reasons for this.

Great idea - great plot, but it takes forever to get to the point. Super overrated show - for any soccer players/watchers, this goes to the pace of Per Mertasacker. Use google if you don't know what that means. This show will keep you interested - and you'll be left hoping that is gets better, but it won't. If you would like to watch a show that hasn't gone anywhere in a season, this is perfect. Oh, and also gay sex scenes, bunch of transgender banging each other with strap ons unexpectedly...

It has the plot of the movie 'Jumper' but slightly more complex. Interesting show with a movie feel to it. It's intesity really draws you, so much so that 50 minutes feels like 10 minutes. It is not a predictable show in the begining so everything is a surprise, however, once you understand the characters, it is slightly predictable and cliche towards the end of the first season. Interesting show overall, I definitely highly recommend it.

It's a very strange show, it's science-related but at the sime time is mystical and romantic either. I think that Netflix has done a great job creating this show, and in the future i also hope that the plot'll develope in a more interesting manner. The assumptions are all good, so, let's hope in something special for the 2nd season

My favourite show of ALL TIME. I love the multi-cultural aspect of the show. It actually shows very real aspects of a variety of cultures while interconnecting each character's story seamlessly. The writing is tight, cinematography is fantastic, and the actors are all so good at portraying their characters. My favourite show. Nothing can top this.

It felt too much like I was watching a long, drawn out commercial for gay pride.A show shouldn't market itself in one way, and then be completely about something else.That is called, bait and switch.I wanted to like this show.I also just found out that one of the Wachowski brothers has changed their gender. -- Now it makes sense why the show gets so off track into the LGBT topic... but, it's not what the trailer signed me up for.This show is going into the bin... for being way too political.Could have been good... if they had cut out all the preachy content.What a waste of a good premise.I'm also going to respond to the poster that inquired as to the veracity of my review... after only 2 episodes.First of all, I didn't even make it through 10 minutes into the second episode. The several minute long monologue about how the female with the overly deep voice feels so sorry for herself, for being treated differently all her life... leading up to the gay pride parade... was well enough for me to see that the show had digressed so far into political ideology, that I was no longer interested in waiting for it to develop any further. What the heck does that have to anything whatsoever to do with a Science Fiction show, that is supposed to be about telepathy?Let me be clear. I will not be forced to watch a show, that is advertised in one way; and then, is so overwhelmingly about a completely different message.The same way I would get up and walk out of a movie, if I found it not to be representative of the tenor of the trailer; to the point where I came to the realization, that I'd be suffering... to put myself through any more of such a terrible excuse for entertainment.Whether I agree with the viewpoint of the directors is immaterial. I just want to watch the Sci-Fi show that I came to watch.Also, the idea that every show with straight characters in it has to have a, "straight agenda," just because a LGBT director has so eloquently written in several flaming LGBT characters into a show that they are directing... does not even make sense.That is called specious reasoning.If several of the characters in a TV show just so happen to be eating McDonalds food, in all of their scenes... for breakfast, lunch, and dinner... or any other excessive on screen advertising - during the dramatic content of a TV show - then, I promptly turn it off, all the same; because, I don't want McDonalds shoved down my throat, during the content of the TV show.That is what commercials and infomercials are for.During the actual show, I don't want to see any adverts, nor any overt political or religious statements, nor any personal agendas... because it distracts and clouds the content of my entertainment viewing. Obviously, there will always be bits and pieces. But, if it goes beyond mere happenstance, into a full blown monologue about how life-changing it has been to the characters, to imbibe McDonalds Big Macs... then, I am compelled to turn that kind of programming off... because it can no longer be taken seriously, as a Sci-Fi show... if it must force the idea of being okay with McDonalds on its viewers. Everyone reserves the right to refrain from watching off-topic nonsense... especially, when it is not how the trailer has presented the show to be.This review is a warning to all sensible people, gay and straight... that this show does not represent the Sci-Fi topic of the trailer. The Sci-Fi plot, albeit, barely detectable... is just the bait.Thusly, my rating is being reduced from 4, to 2... for the childish users, that have failed to respect other user's opinions... about what should be classified as Science Fiction.When I sign up to watch a Sci-Fi show... I want to see a Sci-Fi show... from start to finish. Not an ideological infomercial, masquerading as a Sci-Fi show... that takes at least one or two episodes to actually get to the Sci-Fi plot. I refuse to be beaten over the head; and, to have my intelligence insulted... when I'm merely trying to watch a Sci-Fi, Television program. Usually, I'd simply browse. Rarely do I ever feel compelled to make an account, let alone write a review. However, I felt an obligation to warn others about this show. This show is that bad. I really do wish I could rate it less than 1.(Warning: may contain spoilers) Now -- before I go on, let me remind you about the premise of this show, the trailer and how it was marketed; "A group of people around the world are suddenly linked mentally, and must find a way to survive being hunted by those who see them as a threat to the world's order." Sounds great, right? Yeah, I thought so too. That was until I watched it. The first episode consists of a wide variety of characters, none of which are the best actors, but I didn't mind because it only the first episode. It starts off rather interesting with a woman, who from what is shown is possibly the beginning of how all these characters get linked, she then kills herself in a very dramatic way and then the show starts. All characters begin seeing her and we are immediately aware these characters are linked. Does it stop there though? No. It's treats the viewer as a child, then keeps showing it over and over and over. Then, instead of getting to the story, it starts slowly by introducing characters. Okay, that's fine, right? Yeah, you'd think so. Until you actually see it for yourself. The characters themselves aren't inherently bad, but the way the creators portray them are incredibly "preachy" to say the least. An Asian Female put down by her male compatriots by the simple fact that she's a Female. A Trans Woman always sad because she's somehow "oppressed" despite the fact that she lives better than most people I know and has a beautiful girlfriend. And it just goes on, and on and on.And the worst part? It shows itself to be a sci-fi drama, but really it's just a drama with the tiniest elements of sci-fi. In the first two episodes, you get roughly 110 minutes of Drama and 10 minutes of Sci-fi. What's even worse? I could watch just the Drama alone if it wasn't so horribly done. It feels more like someone self-inserting their political agenda in, realizing what they've done, then saying, "Oh ****, we forgot to add a story and the sci-fi. Oh well, put it in and no one will notice we half-***** it" If I wanted to hear this preachy bull****, I'd go watch preachy bull****. This is marketed as a "cool interesting sci-fi drama" but it isn't. Don't be fooled.

I very rarely write reviews here on IMDb, but after reading some of the other reviews of this amazingly diverse, colourful and new show I actually feel the need to do so.There have been a few reviewers complaining about "all the gay and/or transsexual people in this series", going as far as claiming this to be "gay propaganda"(!). ... Well, okay. I admit that I am shocked because really?? Yes, there are gay and even one transsexual character in Sense8.. Oh, and they even get to be main characters! Wow. That really must be gay propaganda - because surely no Scifi TV show intended for the mainstream could possibly have normal, every-day gay characters in it -- that aren't even there for the usual comic relief. I mean, of course there are TV shows and films that have plenty of gay characters and plot, and that's apparently OK, because they're mostly intended for a gay audience. And most importantly, they advertise beforehand that the show "is gay". And Sense8? It had the bloody gall to not follow this fine established etiquette. (Boo hoo.)Seriously. There's plenty of straight sex to be found in your average film/TV show and no one would ever call that "heterosexual and/or anti-gay propaganda". It's simply two (or more) people, in the nude, having, ya know, sex. Nothing new in the world of TV. Considering the fact that there are plenty of gay, bi, trans etc. people out there one might possibly find it strange how most shows or blockbusters have so little glbt lead characters... But no, instead we're confronted with a scandalised outcry because gay sex. And gay people's problems. (Okay, the slippery strap-on dildo wasn't really necessary, I'll give you that. But on the other hand, there're plenty of other TV shows showing similar or even more explicit sex scenes/stuff - and with those being of the straight variety there aren't half as many people complaining about it as here.)In my (very humble) opinion, Sense8 is a very engaging, well-made and super interesting science fiction drama with a very interesting and varied bunch of characters. And I really mean interesting - there isn't even one character that I can't bond with, don't want to know more about or find interesting here, which on it's own is quite an accomplishment considering that there are 8 main characters who couldn't be more diverse.. Made even more intriguing by all these developing connections between culturally very different people.The show is not fast-paced, and far from your average sci-fi action show. I get that this show might not for everyone and understand how one might be disappointed and call the series (too) slow - especially if one started watching this show expecting it to be a fast-paced, action-packed SF mystery. This is, imo, more a drama about very different people who start connecting in the strangest of ways despite all their differences - may it be culture, gender, sexual preference, job (policeman vs. criminal) or social background. And in the first few episodes the show mainly concentrates on exactly that development - introducing each character, their history and the world they live in. (Yes, that includes a bit of "gay plot line" or "cliché"-characters as well - i.e. a parent not accepting their transsexual daughter or a guy being afraid of facing the possible consequences a coming out might entail.)The so-called "clichés" are unfortunately still a harsh reality for lot's of people - may that be the poor African guy with an HIV-diseased mother, a women working in a business in which there's seemingly no place for a woman or a policeman confronted with a world in which saving a kid might possibly mean saving the very gangbanger who might kill your partner/friend at some point in the future.Who the hell would wanna watch a show with characters that live totally happy, trouble and drama free lives anyway? Right, no one.The mystery SF element unravels slowly, yes, but the show picks up and draws you right in with intriguing & very vivid characterisations. I recommend sticking with it, because the show and the 8 MCs really grow on you. :)

It is one of the best SF shows in the last few years. I will try to explain why. Straczynski is an old-school storyteller. His stories are methodical and often revealed in the later stages of the show (remember B5 where the whole S1 was an expose only). "Sense8" isn't any different. It's a show where the story begins after the first few episodes so if you don't have patience to wait and see into what will the story develop just don't watch it. However, if you acknowledge that and give the show a chance you'll see that it's a testament of tolerance. In the beginning of the show 8 people are interconnected. They can literally "feel" each other. That's freaky. But they are all as different as they could be. They also come from different continents and different surroundings. "Sense8" asks us to have faith in each other and perhaps even to coexist because and not in spite of our differences. However, story is slow, and in the beginning there is just to many characters to feel any real connection to any of them. It doesn't matter really. We can see the sketches of the things to come. "Sense8" tackles some serious subjects. Homosexuality, transgender relations, racial differences, feminism and deficiency of capitalism.Of course, all that criticism probably won't appeal to everyone and it will probably offend the feelings of the conservative viewers but neither Wachovskis nor Straczynski are worried about that. "Sense8" does what it describes. It introduces us to the bigger picture. The story will fully develop in the later stages, the universe of the S8 is just fleshed out here. This passed with B5 in the nineties but today when people are watching their cellphones while watching the movie and when everything must happen now or it doesn't matter anymore - S8 is a bit anachronistic. It's not made for everyone and it won't be liked by everyone. But it isn't bad. On the contrary, it's one of the best SF series in a while.
